Safety Recalls

Hazard: The recalled gates violate the federal safety regulations for expansion gates and expandable enclosures because a child's torso can fit through the opening between the gate and the floor, posing a risk of serious injury or death due to entrapment hazard.

Hazard: Young children can unexpectedly disengage the toilet locks and gain access to water in the toilet, posing the risk of drowning. The cabinet locks are being recalled because young children can disengage the lock, posing the risk of injury from dangerous or unsafe items stored in the cabinet.

Hazard: Young children can disengage the cabinet locks, allowing access to cabinet contents and posing the risk of injury, due to dangerous or unsafe items.

Hazard: Improper plastic material found inside the recalled product has been attributed to vacuum release failures which create an entrapment hazard to swimmers and bathers.

Hazard: If the headlamp is used with rechargeable batteries, the cable connecting the battery pack to the lamp can spark, melt, or catch fire. This poses a burn hazard to consumers.

Hazard: The lighters do not have a label in English containing precautionary information concerning the proper use and operation. Failure to follow the instructions in the warning label could result in injury.

Hazard: The safety warning label containing precautionary information on proper use and operation was not affixed to the device. The safety warning label should read: "CAUTION: This is not a lifesaving device. Never leave children unattended in or near water"

Hazard: The nailer can eject a nail while the switch is in the "off" position, if the trigger is pulled and it is placed on a surface. This can pose a serious injury to consumers or bystanders.

Hazard: The drill bit packages are not properly labeled with precautionary information on proper use and operation. These and other manufacturers' 13-inch bits can bend when run at a high speed without being in contact with a work surface, resulting in loss of control of the drill and possible lacerations. The safety label should read: "! WARNING Read, understand and comply with tool manual before use. Wear eye protection. Max operating speed 600 RPM. At higher speeds the bit is likely to bend if allowed to rotate freely without contacting the work. Start drilling at low RPM and with bit tip in contact with work. To avoid bit bowing - Apply pressure only in direct line with bit and do not apply excessive pressure. Bits can bind, causing breakage or loss of control. Do not use in hammer drills or in drill press."

Hazard: The Abrasive Cut-Off Wheel packages are not properly labeled with precautionary information on proper use and operation. The failure of a user to follow the instructions below could result in injury. "! WARNING Read, understand and comply with tool manual before use. Follow OSHA and ANSI B7.1 standards. Use eye, face, dust and ear protection. Wear body apron and gloves. Speed rating of wheel must be greater than tool speed. Do not grind without guard adjusted for maximum operator protection. Mount wheel with the tool flanges provided. Run-in for one minute before application. Do not jam, twist or pinch wheel in work piece or apply excessive side pressure to the wheel. RECOIL may occur if wheel is jammed. Do not use near flammable materials or gases; fire or explosion may result. Do not expose to water, condensation or freezing. Discard wheel if dropped, cracked or chipped."
